There are 7 very different viaducts along the Jara Greenway. The most spectacular one is the “Flying Bridge” or Azután Viaduct, which “flies” over the reservoir of the same name, and which links the municipalities of Calera y Chozas and Aldeanueva de Barbarroya. This viaduct, which is 340 m and has a maximum height of 40 m, and which has been the setting for some TV series, allows us to fly over the Tagus river.
The shorter Riscal Viaduct, with a length of 100 m and a similar máximum height of 35 m. Later on, between the municipalities of La Nava de Ricomalillo, Campillo de la Jara and Sevilleja de la Jara can be found other huge Viaducts, almost 100 m long and about 20-25 m high.
Others
Station Warehouses and Houses.
In the five main stations can also be found warehouses and several houses where the railway building workers used to live.
Cattle Loading Docks
In the Aldeanueva de Barbarroya railway station can be found a singular structure for loading cattle onto trains on three different levels.
Stations
There are 5 stations and 3 stops on the railway line which is the basis of the Jara Greenway in Toledo. The Calera y Chozas station is the only active one, as trains still pass through it. The other stations are currently abandoned, although the Pilas stop is inhabited and there is a shop known as “el Quiosco” in the Campillo-Sevilleja station, known locally as “Pizarrita”, where travellers can buy drinks.
Tunnels
The Greenway runs along an infrastructure which leads into the mountain 18 times. The Jara Greenway is special in many respects, among which is the fact that it ends in a tunnel, and the fact that the highest part of the Greenway is the one in which there are most tunnels.
The most outstanding tunnel is tunnel number 9, at km 30, just after leaving the Nava-Fuentes station to the left, in the direction of Santa Quiteria, which is the longest tunnel in the route – more than 730 m long.
Tunnels 4, 5 y 13 are much shorter at about 250 me (at kms 25, 26 y 38, respectively), si even though the curvature of some of their layouts can give rise to a feeling of deep darkness.
