In March 2005, the Ministry for Industry, Tourism and Trade replaced the denominations of Tourism Excellence Plan and Tourism Revitalisation Plan by that of Tourism Product Revitalisation Plans, which comprised the two previous denominations, with some modifications.
The Tourism Product Revitalisation Plans (TPDPs) are a tool for the management of tourism offerings in a specific destination, whose ultimate aim is to maximise its exploitation, with an emphasis on quality and sustainability criteria. TPDPs are meant to enhance promotion rather tan infrastructures, and focus on new rather than on consolidated markets.
They are defined by the Ministry as “tools for the co-funding of tourism strategies†developed in cooperation with various public administrations with the aim of collaborating with local entities and improve their tourism offerings. The first tourism product revitalisation plans were approved in 2006 for their implementation in 2007.
Unlike Tourism Excellence and Revitalisation Plans, TPDPs are meant to create quality local tourism products capable of future commercialisation.
Along these lines, the Jara Greenway has been selected as a target destination for the launching of a Tourism Product Revitalisation Plan, financed with funds from the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade, the Castilla-La Mancha Board of Communities and the Jara Greenway Municipalities Association with the support of the Toledo County Council.
The aims of the Jara Greenway Tourism Product Revitalisation Plan are the following:
-
Increasing the quality of local tourism services.
-
Improving the urban and natural environment in the municipalities involved.
-
Enlargement and improvement of public spaces.
-
Enlargement, diversification and improvement of the complementary offer.
-
Valorisation of tourism resources.
-
Valorisation of tourism resources.
-
