The Jara Greenway Municipality Association was constituted on 27th March 2006 by the municipalities of: Calera y Chozas, Aldeanueva de Barbarroya, La Nava de Ricomalilo, El Campillo de la Jara, and Sevilleja de la Jara. Later on, in 2009, the municipalites of Puerto de San Vicente and La Estrella joined the Municipality Association.

Joint achievement of the following works and/or services are established as the aims of the Municipality Association:

a) Preservation of the 52.4 km of the Jara Greenway which cross the province of Toledo, along the old Calera y Chozas-Villanueva de la Serena railway route.

b) Management of Greenway leisure and tourism activities.

c) Activities towards the promotion and development of the Greenway.
